When eager kids rush in to enjoy Dos Picos Regional Park’s annual egg hunt Saturday in Ramona, they’re going to find an extra-special treat, thanks to an Eagle Scout and a County park ranger.

Most of us will probably never get a chance to go to the moon, but thanks to a unique program from the County of San Diego Parks and Recreation Department, University of California San Diego and Sally Ride Science, 37 fourth- through eighth-graders in the Spring Valley area got to do the next best thing.

Kids and families will have their choice of enjoying traditional egg hunts, meeting the Spring Bunny, gobbling up a pancake breakfast and just generally having some egg-ucational fun over the next two weekends at County parks in Cardiff, Del Mar, Encinitas, Ramona and Spring Valley.

Families can sample nutritious foods, get expert exercise tips, watch healthy cooking demonstrations, receive free health screenings, watch dance performances and hear great music Saturday, March 24 at the seventh annual “It’s How We Live! Family Day in the Park” at Lindo Lake Park in Lakeside.
