On July 1, San Diego County Child Welfare Services begins its transition into the new Child and Family Well-Being Department. As explained in this video, the new department will integrate multiple child and family serving systems, including First 5 San Diego, Child Welfare Services, and other Health and Human Services Agency departments, under one umbrella to deliver both prevention and safeguarding services. Kim Giardina, the current director of Child Welfare Services, has been named director of the new department.
