A Look into the New Child and Family Well-Being Department

On July 1, San Diego County Child Welfare Services begins its transition into the new Child and Family Well-Being Department. As explained in this video, the new department will integrate multiple child and family serving systems, including First 5 San Diego, Child Welfare Services, and other Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) departments, under one umbrella to deliver both prevention and safeguarding services.
Annual Flag Raising Honors Victims of Child Abuse and Neglect

On the fourth Friday of April every year, a special flag is raised at the County’s Polinsky Children’s Center. The blue and red banner, which displays figures of kids, honors the approximately 1,800 children nationwide who lose their lives annually due to abuse and neglect.
