The County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the Meadowood Master Planned Community Wednesday, a project that would build 355 homes, 489 multi-family residences, trails, open space and a public park on 389 acres near Fallbrook.

With the Board’s approval, Meadowood becomes the second large residential development approved by the County in the area northeast of Interstate 15 and State Route 76.

Last May, supervisors approved the 751-home Campus Park Project in that area. A third project, the Campus Park West Project, is currently being reviewed by County planners. In addition, Palomar Community College has already started building a “northern” college campus extension in the area.

All four projects are in the Interstate-15/State Route-76 Interchange Master Specific Plan Area that County Supervisors created in 1987, in anticipation that it would become a logical area for future development.

In addition to its homes and multi-family residences, the Meadowood Project plans to include an 8-acre public park with sports fields and picnic areas, two additional acres of park land, six miles of inconnected public trails and 122 acres of open space.

The project also intends to build a wastewater treatment plant, preserve 49 acres of farm land and reserve approximately 12 acres of land for the Bonsall School District to buy if the district decides to build a school there in the future.
