Step between the past and present of flight this Saturday at the annual Ramona Airport Open House. Visitors can get up close to classic war birds, helicopters and firefighting and rescue equipment. Special guest, Capt. Claude Rowe, one of the original Tuskegee Airmen of WWII fame, will also be on hand.

From 7 a.m to 3 p.m. there will be arts and crafts and Smokey Bear for families to enjoy. Visitors can tour classic and modern hot rods, big trucks and the helicopter museum called Classic Rotors. People can see the airport control tower and U.S. Forest Service operations.

The classic war birds will fly in formation and some will be on display for up close inspection. You see the Sheriff Department’s Copter 10 perform a demonstration of its rescue abilities.

A pancake breakfast and Mexican fiesta lunch are available for a small fee.

The open house is sponsored by the County of San Diego Airports to inform the public about airport operations and to invite residents to see various aircraft.
