The San Diego County Library Lakeside Branch got in on the San Diego Comic-Con fun and fervor a bit early with its own family-friendly Mini Comic Con.

About 100 people attended the library event Tuesday afternoon, many in costume, including Darth Vader, a Storm Trooper and other members of the 501st Legion, Imperial Sands Garrison, a Star Wars costume group.

Attendees could also sit and visit with special guests: Elle Doyenne, a local author and artist, who talked about her fantasy and science fiction books; local voice actor Ruben O’Neill, who offered acting tips; and Alexis Patterson, who demonstrated media arts and animation techniques.

Children and adults alike dressed as their favorite superhero or science fiction character and posed with costumed characters, colored, played a Harry Potter game for prizes, and were entered in a raffle to win special prizes.

The library also hosted a swag table with free manga, posters, comics and pins.
