Discover Holidays of Yesteryear at Rancho Christmas

Preparing for the holidays starts in earnest after Thanksgiving. But before you get caught up in all the hustle and bustle, see how families celebrated the holidays in the 1800s at the annual Rancho Christmas celebration on Saturday, Nov. 26.

The Rancho Guajome Adobe in Vista will be transformed with handmade, natural decorations that hark back to simpler times. Children will have a chance to try their hand at 19th century-inspired crafts such as weaving, making drip candles, corn husk dolls and caramel apples.

They can also hop on board a tractor-drawn wagon, enjoy Native American storytelling, ballet folklorico and live music. guajome_adobe_rancho_christmas

The 1853 ranch house will be decked in period holiday decorations for tours and later in the day, guests can sip on warm apple cider and enjoy caroling in the inner courtyard.

Rancho Christmas begins at 10 a.m. and lasts until 4 p.m. Children under three years old are free. Ticket prices start at $3 for children ages 4 to 12 and $5 for those age 13 and older.

Rancho Guajome Adobe is located at 2210 N. Santa Fe Avenue, Oceanside, CA 92083. For more information, call (760) 724-4082.
