Fun Free Ways to Get Fit at the Library

Reading Time: < 1 minute

It’s January, the holiday overeating season is over and many of us are ready to get back in shape. But don’t worry about finding a gym. The San Diego County Library offers a wide range of exercise classes for nearly every age and ability and, best of all, they’re free!

Yoga classes are the most plentiful with vinyasa, hatha, gentle, parent and baby, toddler, kids, youth, Silver Age and Silver Sneakers classes. Add to that laughter yoga, adaptive yoga for adults with special needs, bilingual yoga and yogalates, whew!

Other exercise classes run the gamut. Some examples: tai chi, Zumba, qigong, belly dancing, country line dancing, soul line dancing for ages 50+, the Feeling Fit Club, hoop fitness and kids’ martial arts.

Want to check them out? Not every County library branch offers every class so check online for a schedule of available classes.

And if you’re inspired to improve your health overall, follow the #NewYearNewYou hashtag on Twitter  for a variety of health and wellness tips from the library throughout the month of January. For general information about the County Library, visit www.sdcl.org.
