Great Excuse to Shop ’til You Drop

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Had your eyes on that Coach designer handbag or a Michael Kors power suit? Maybe it’s last minute back-to-school shopping that tops your list of things to do.

No matter the reason, you could save 25 percent off all your necessities – and splurges – when you purchase a $5 Macy’s “Shop for a Cause” discount pass and help out a worthy cause on Saturday, Aug. 24.

The San Diego County Parks Society gets to keep 100 percent of the $5 pass to support County park environmental education programs.

Passes can be purchased online through PayPal, or in person at the San Diego County Parks and Recreation Department, 5500 Overland Avenue, Suite 410, in Kearny Mesa. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Online passes are available only until 24 hours before the sale.

“Shop for a Cause” is a one-day-only shopping event created to support the fundraising activities of local charities across the country.

The passes are good for 25 percent off regular, sale and clearance items including several brands that are usually excluded from discounts at Macys. Shoppers save 10 percent on electronics, watches, furniture, mattresses, rugs and floor coverings.

You can also shop online with your savings pass, but there are additional exclusions when purchasing online.

In addition to environmental education, the Parks Society assists in improving park land, restoring trails, upgrading playgrounds, improving athletic fields and expanding programs such as the TRACK Trails Program that encourages families to spend more time outdoors in county parks.
