Holiday celebrations and seasonal events are in full swing, but for children with physical disabilities or chronic health challenges, participation is often difficult and limited. Accessibility, large crowds, unfamiliar surroundings and overstimulation can be problematic.
To help spread the joy of the holidays, physical and occupational therapists at the County’s Medical Therapy Units (MTU) host several winter special events for their clients each December, including a Holly Jolly Holiday Party at the Chula Vista location.
This special celebration provides a fun-filled afternoon for the youth and their parents. It features holiday themed activities, yummy treats and even the opportunity to take a photo with Santa.
Medical Therapy Units (MTU) are part of the statewide California Children’s Services (CCS) program and provide physical and occupational therapy to youth under age 21 with neuromuscular, musculoskeletal or muscular disease.
San Diego County has six Medical Therapy Units (MTU). They are located in Chula Vista, El Cajon, Escondido, San Diego North in Clairemont, San Diego South in Grant Hill, Vista, along with a satellite office in Poway.
