VIDEO: Park Rangers Use Bikes to Better Patrol

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Where there’s a wheel there’s a way! And there are plenty of wheels making way through our County parks and trails.

The Uniform Bicycle Program is used for transportation, park patrols, check-ins at reservation areas and at special events – allowing rangers to stand out in a crowd.

The bikes and any needed repairs are facilitated by inmates and staff of the East Mesa Reentry Facility, all coordinated through the San Diego County Sheriffs’ Department’s CIVICS Program.

Today the fleet is 30 strong, with bikes and approved riders at more than 15 locations across the region.
