A dog recovering from near starvation was adopted Friday and will spend the holidays with his new family. Bruno was brought in to County Animal Services on Dec. 6 in such bad shape that staff didn’t think he would survive. The 5-year-old cane corso weighed only 62 pounds when he should have tipped the scales at over 100.

But under veterinary care, Bruno has gotten back to more than 94 pounds – enough weight to go up for adoption. A Ramona family with dogs of their own took him home Friday, renaming him Odin.

County Animal Services is looking into possible animal cruelty charges if the dog’s owner can be found. Anyone with information is asked to call the department at (619) 767-2740.
