Recently, St. Augustine High School students spent four hours planting trees in an area affected by the 2003 Cedar Fire. For many, it was the first time planting a tree, but they hope their efforts bring back a full forest by 2070. Find more volunteer opportunities at sdparks.org.

We’re doing what we can to protect trees and be forward thinking when it comes to ways to save them. More than 450 trees have been removed and 4,000 have been planted in their place.

The Board of Supervisors Wednesday approved a $2 million expansion of a program to remove and replace weakened trees in County parks. The action authorizes the Department of Parks and Recreation to advertise and award the contract for its Comprehensive Tree Program.
