County Establishes New Child and Family Well-Being Department

The San Diego County Board of Supervisors has approved a reimagined department to support children and families. The new Child and Family Well-Being Department will integrate multiple child and family serving systems, including First 5 San Diego, Child Welfare Services, and other Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) departments, under one umbrella to deliver both prevention and safeguarding services.

The County can help you get that good feeling! Just drop off a new, unwrapped toy in one of the annual Toys for Tots donation boxes between now and Dec. 10 at one of five County airports.

VIDEO: Suicide Numbers Trend Down in San Diego County

The number of San Diego deaths by suicide continue to decline for the fourth year in a row, according to a new annual report by the San Diego County Suicide Prevention Council. Suicides decreased from a high of 465 in 2018 down to 364 in 2021.
