Come Watch – And Meet – The Lorax Saturday Night!

Reading Time: 2 minutes

What could be even better than watching Dr. Seuss’ “The Lorax” out under the stars for free Saturday night?

Why, getting to meet Lorax in person! Getting to dance with him! Getting the chance to get goodie bags filled with beach balls and Lorax mustaches; and the chance to win a raffle to get a “The Lorax” DVD and book!

That’s right; San Diego County’s award-winning Summer Movies in the Park program, which ends its 2012 series this month, will feature one of its best promotions yet Saturday night at 4S Ranch Sports Park!

The first 250 children who show up will receive a Dr. Seuss goodie bag filled with a Lorax mustache, a beach ball, pictures to color and games to play. And, of course, the Lorax himself will be available for photographs and fun starting at 6:30 p.m.

There will be a karate demonstration and a free kids’ dance demonstration with the Lorax to help burn off that extra wiggle-energy before the movie. Parking is free.

The movie starts shortly after dusk. Guests are encouraged to bring warm clothes, blankets and low-back lawn chairs. Well-behaved dogs are allowed on leashes. Sweet Things Frozen Yogurt will also be at the event.

This year’s Summer Movies in the Park program featured more than 50 free, high-quality digital movies on 32-foot inflatable big screens, and was put together by the County Department of Parks and Recreation with the cities of San Diego, El Cajon, La Mesa, Lemon Grove, National City, Oceanside and Poway, and the USS Midway Museum.

The program ends its season Sept. 29 with a showing of “Puss and Boots” at the Oceanside Pier Amphitheater and “Madagascar” at the County Administration Center downtown.

The Summer Movies in the Park program was honored as one of the best park programs in America in July by the National Association of County Park and Recreation Officials.

The 4S Ranch Sports Park is located at 16118 4S Ranch Parkway. For more information see the Summer Movies in the Park website.
