$100 Spay Discount Deal for Cats Ends Soon

Reading Time: < 1 minute

It’s not too late. Cat owners can still spay or neuter their pets at a steep discount and help prevent the onslaught of unwanted kittens that hits County Animal Services each year.

In honor of Spay Day USA on Feb. 27, County Animal Services is again offering $100 spay discount coupons for female cats and $50 neuter discount coupons for male cats while supplies last. If pet owners use a veterinarian listed on County Animal Services website, the discount may be deeper or even free.

Hundreds of homeless kittens begin arriving at County Animal Services in March. More than 500 kittens under the age of two months showed up in May alone last year. Now is the time to take action to avoid the inundation.

“We strongly urge cat owners to spay or neuter their pets,” said County Animal Services Director Daniel DeSousa. “Many people love kittens but not everyone can adopt them; the best way to lower the number of unwanted pets is by spaying and neutering.”

The discount coupons are available from Tuesday, Feb. 20 through Wednesday, Feb. 28. The coupons are available to residents in the unincorporated areas of the County and Animal Services’ six contract cities of San Diego, Santee, Carlsbad, Solana Beach, Encinitas and Del Mar.

Residents can pick up the coupons from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday at any one of the three animal care facilities. The coupons must be used within 60 days and returned to Animal Services within 30 days of being used so pet owners can be reimbursed. For more information, call (619) 767-2675.
