Summer Movies in the Park Continues Through October

Movies in the Park

Don’t let the closing credits roll on your summertime fun – Summer Movies in the Park continues through October. Pack a picnic blanket, pop some popcorn and round up the kids for fabulous and free films under the stars.

Movies are showing in all parts of the county. Locations range from Oceanside in the north to El Cajon and Campo in the east, National City and Bonita in the south, coastal areas like Mission Bay and Ocean Beach, and many communities in between.

There’s still time to see several recently released titles such as “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and “Inside Out.”  If you are looking for a classic, hop in a time machine for “Back to the Future” at Waterfront Park on Sept. 2.

All the films are rated from G to PG-13.

The Summer Movies in the Park season concludes in late October with two frighteningly fun flicks. So gather up your little goblins for some family-friendly fun or your boo for date night—Movies in the Park will show ghostly “Goosebumps” at Waterfront Park on Oct. 28 and the howlingly humorous “Hocus Pocus” at Otay Lakes County Park on Oct. 29.

This is the ninth year in a row that County Parks and Recreation and sponsor cities have offered what is now billed as the largest free movie event in the country.

All movies are shown on screens ranging from 26 to 40 feet and start at dusk. Many locations offer music, arts and crafts, games and other fun activities for children an hour or so before the show starts.
