County and Sheriff’s Department Homeless Outreach Teams Walk the Waterfront Park

A homeless outreach effort in the Waterfront Park is changing lives through direct, same day assistance. The County’s Office of Homeless Solutions and Equitable Communities (HSEC) teamed up with Sheriff’s deputies, Sheriff’s resource teams and other County support teams to walk the park and engage with unsheltered individuals. County public health nurses were also standing by to help.

County First to Use Rapid DNA-Based Beach Water Testing to Protect Public

Distributing COVID-19 Vaccines Equitably

The County is continuing to expand its efforts to equitably distribute COVID-19 vaccines to populations who have suffered the worst outcomes from the pandemic. In February, the County began piloting multiple health-equity focused methods to ensure that eligible County residents who live in the hardest-hit communities can get vaccinated outside of the traditional online appointment system.

A western harvest mouse collected in routine monitoring has tested positive for hantavirus. County environmental health officials are reminding people not to vacuum or sweep up after rodents if they find them in homes, garages, and sheds. Use wet-cleaning methods instead.
